The Nauset Investment Philosophy
We use the following investment
principles within the context of the Sector Focus Portfolio Management
approach:
 |
Invest long term in key sectors
combined with market index investments and opportunistic investments. We
are not market timers or day traders.
|
 |
Use independent, fundamental and
technical research from established and non-traditional sources, such as
Lehman Brothers, TheStreet.com and Morningstar, to track key sector
(e.g., technology, healthcare, finance, energy) trends and companies.
|
 |
Invest in index and
exchange-traded funds to cover the total stock market as well as key sectors
in a cost-efficient manner.
|
 |
Invest in actively managed
funds, seeking sector or aggressive growth specialists with above-average
performance.
|
 |
Invest in individual equities,
generally seeking stocks with attractive growth rates at reasonable prices.
|
 |
Manage cost-efficiently by using
low-cost funds, limiting portfolio trades and considering tax implications.
|
 |
Maintain portfolio risk/reward
balance according to each client’s Personal Investment Policy guidelines. |
Consistent with wealth
management principles, our goal is not simply to provide excellent
returns, but to construct and manage portfolios to generate returns that
meet client goals within appropriate risk parameters. We
manage portfolios with “target annual return” objectives based on historical
returns, which are set in each client’s Personal Investment Policy. We
report total returns after all fees against a customized benchmark developed
from components that comprise the “target annual return.”
In short, at Nauset, we work
with you to set your investment goals, then work toward those goals by managing your portfolio
according to your parameters, and regularly report our results to you.
So you know where you want to go financially, and how you are doing getting
there. |
